Over 150,000 prefab houses were built in Britain after World War 2 as an inexpensive means of rebuilding the country after the conflict. Many of the buildings were made from asbestos concrete and covered in asbestos shingles. Some even came with built in ovens cases in concrete.These buildings were meant to last for ten years but a number of them are still in existence and many people spent their formative years being brought up in them. What risk is there from asbestosis for those who have lived in them?
